I came to Costa Rica like so many others, drawn by its natural beauty and the promise of pura vida. The beaches, forests and people seemed to offer a perfect mix of peace and opportunity. But when I began looking for a home here, I discovered a very different reality. There was almost no regulation or enforcement in the real estate sector. There were no mandatory licences for agents or builders, no standard disclosures on new condominiums and no reliable way to see actual sale prices. The more I searched, the more scams I uncovered and the more I realised how easy it is for honest buyers and investors to be misled—especially pensioners and retirees or those looking for a new start in paradise.

What We Do

• Introducing buyer protection and cooling off laws that allow purchasers to walk away from deals if they have been misled.
